My mishap

On Wednesday night, I decided to go to the store for some mayonnaise. It was supposed to be a quick trip. The boys were playing with dad in the front yard.
I grabbed my keys and headed out the door! As I was leaving, both boys decided to come with. So I grabbed Allogator and headed to put him in the car. As I got to his car door, I stepped on a man-whole cover. My ankle gave in, and Alligator and I headed to the ground. I heals on tight to him until the last possible second. He had a little injury, and my ankle quickly grew to the size of a softball.
Instead of heading to the store went straight to the er!
It was ex-rayed and determined not to be broken. But a very bad sprain. They wrapped it, booted it, and put me on crutches. I also left with a mega-load of pain medicine.

The last few days have been a blur of sleep and staggering around on crutches. Luckily my husband has been able to pick up my slack!

I head back to the doctor on Tuesday, where I guess they will MRI it to make sure nothing is torn.I am blogging from my iPod, so I will have to add oxfords later.

Tot School

Alligator is 26 months old.

Letter A learning

I didn’t write a post last week, so this will cover 2 weeks. We continued our letter A learning. We are using Carissa’s Tot School Printables as our basis. Check them out here.

He continues to love this program. He also loves the power point presentations (but I don’t have any pictures, because he is on my lap as we watch and talk together).
B Sensory Tub. It had all the B’s I could find and a lot of balls.

Preschool Corner April 17

This is another picture overload. Monkey is 5 years 1 month old….Can’t believe it!

Sight Words

Carissa over at 1+1+1=1 has new sight word printables. You can read about them here. He seems to enjoy them. We are going to spend another week on the first set.

I did add to Carissa’s set by using our letter tiles. That way Monkey can make the words.

Zoo

We went to the national zoo. Here are a couple of pictures from the tiger exhibit.

Monkey was comparing his hand to the tiger’s paw. They also had a bronze tongue to compare.

As you can see in this picture (sort of) Monkey is carrying a marker and a paper. The paper came from 2 Teaching Mommies. It is from a Bingo game. I printed off the call sheets, and as we saw different animals at the zoo, Monkey could mark them off. He loves having a task to do, so it kept him engaged. He told every person we ran into what he was doing. He was so proud.

We are still doing Mother Goose Time. But not as religiously. I grab a day bag whenever we need something to do.

We played TIc-Tac-Toe.

Rocket

Monkey made a rocket at school. we brought it home and had a blast….he-he….that was a pun! It is a film canister with a snap on bottom. Inside you put alka-seltzer and water. Put the top on fast, and it will go up up up!

Playroom Declutter

Lately our playroom has felt a bit cluttered. In the past when it felt cluttered I added more storage. But I realized that hasn’t helped much.

Here are the photos:

This photo is take from the entry way into the playroom.

I have switched the couches around to give more room for play. I cleared out underneath the train table

This  photo is from another door. You can see our storage bins straight ahead. My goal was to go from 3 storage units to 1. (plan changed later).

I cleared all the clutter from the top of the shelves,

I moved the plastic storage to my upstairs supply closet. I moved all the art supplies into a red bin on the first shelf, so that visually it is much less cluttered.

Here is our train table, which also has storage underneath.

IMG_5035

You can’t tell from this picture, but I combined some storage bins in order clear out underneath the table. Here you can really see the change in the corner of the room though.

What I really wanted to accomplish was to make the room feel less cluttered. I wanted less visual clutter. I also wanted more space to play. The room was just feeling so dark and over crowded.

I am really happy with the result. Monkey even said “Wow Mommy, I am so proud of you!”
